Each of the four UK nations has its own capital city. London is the capital of England and of the United Kingdom as a whole; it is the seat of the UK Parliament and the location of the official residences of the monarch and the Prime Minister. Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and home to the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and home to the Senedd. Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and home to the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont.
